Psalm 78
. . . we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done. .
so the next generation would know them . . . and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.

Look Who's One!

Our fifth baby is already one! You can see my hands holding her back from the flame as everyone sang, "Happy Birthday" to her. Although the pictures don't show it, the room was crowded with four grandparents, four siblings, three cousins, two aunts, two uncles, and mom and dad--seventeen well-wishers!

We all got a huge kick out of watching her taste cake--and sugar icing--for the first time!

She clapped her hands in sheer joy!

When Lydia pulled out this baby doll from the gift bag, her expression was priceless (she hasn't had a doll until now). Then, her crowd of adoring fans all began cheering because to our complete delight she said, "Ba-ba."

Aunt Leida presented Lydia with her name cross-stitch. This precious gift means so much to us because Lydia's first year of life was a very difficult year for her great-aunt Leida, as she spent it battling cancer. Leida is doing well now, thanks be to God, but the cross-stitch gift, which was a fun and relaxing project to make for all the other children, was a painful project and labor of love this time. Thank you, Leida! We love you so much.

Lydia's cousin Wesley gave us a little concert on his electric guitar.

Happy birthday sweet Lydia! She's gorgeous. What a delight. And well done to you and your family for giving her a great first year. She is obviously thriving.
